This bread machine has a thick, plastic outer shell with a gray menu on the front of the unit. You can program the cooking cycle with six colored buttons and the display is easy to read. The top lid flips up for adding ingredients and there is a small viewing window to check the progress of the loaf. This bread making machine requires you to lift the lid when adding ingredients mid-cycle, which could let out heat.

The bread will tend to be rougher when using this mode, so, if you have the time, it’s better to wait the extra couple of hours. Sunbeam offers a one-year warranty on the bread maker as well, which is nice when you’re using a single paddle bread machine. The Sunbeam 5891 has a convenient display you can see without having to stand on a stepstool, a full range of programmable features and the ability to make fresh bread in less than an hour. It will take up a lot of space on your counter, but it's one of the best bread makers if you have the room for it.
